Nativity with St. Francis and St. Lawrence

Caravaggio
The Nativity (also called The Adoration) was stolen in 1969 and has never been retrieved. The Sicilian mafia has long been the object of suspicions, fuelled by one former member claiming in 1996 that he was the one who stole it for a boss, and another member claiming to have been told in 1999 that the painting was stolen for a private collector, but had been eaten by rats and pigs while hidden in a farm outbuilding.
The Oratorio in 2018; a reproduction is in place since 2016.
